The Winnipeg Wine Festival is Manitoba’s premier food and wine event and the largest fundraising event for Special Olympics Manitoba.

An annual highlight on Winnipeg’s event calendar, the Winnipeg Wine Festival is the second largest tasting festival of its kind in Canada. From intimate and unique WineDown events, Inspire Gala Dinner & Auction and signature Public Tasting events held at the RBC Convention Centre Winnipeg, there’s something for every wine lover, at the Winnipeg Wine Festival.

The festival is held every year and showcases wines from all over the world, some of which are new to the market and only available at the festival. Offering plenty of opportunities to learn about the latest trends in wine consumption and production. Festival-goers can purchase their favourite bottle of wine from the onsite Liquor Mart store.

The three main objectives of the Winnipeg Wine Festival are: to raise funds for Special Olympics Manitoba, to provide an informative, educational, and entertaining wine experience for public and trade, and to be a premier marketing opportunity for the wine industry and festival partners.

Festival’s History

Twenty-one years ago, Special Olympics Manitoba and Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries started on this most successful adventure known as the Winnipeg Wine Festival.

In the past twenty years, the Winnipeg Wine Festival has raised more than $3 million for Special Olympics Manitoba to fund sports programs to thousands of athletes with intellectual disabilities across the province.

What is Special Olympics Manitoba?

More than organizing sporting events, Special Olympics is an organization dedicated to empowering individuals with intellectual disabilities to become physically fit, productive, and respected members of society through sports training and competitions.

Our chapter is one of the strongest in Canada, consistently leading the country with innovative programming and producing outstanding individuals and teams that win at the National Summer and Winter games. But beyond wins and losses, SOM—along with supporters like you—is helping athletes build their self-esteem, learn to compete, travel the world, improve their physical fitness, and discover their potential through sport.

These opportunities provided to our athletes would not be possible without the support of SOM events such as the Winnipeg Wine Festival. Through hard work and powerful partnerships, it is the generous support of the community that provides on-going strength to Special Olympics Manitoba and giving us the opportunity to better serve our athletes.
